This is Sister Yuming and her family's White Pu'er Tea from Jingmaishan, Pu'er, Yunnan.

They are taking care of their ancestral tea forest on the sacred mountain just above their home and are inheritors of a living heritage going back many generations of patient craftsmanship, passionate and dedicated labor. The environment surrounding their village, mostly inhabited by the Dai ethnic group, is primitive and majestic. Some of the trees whose leaves are picked for production are 4 or 500 years old. Their white tea making skills involve the exposure of leaves to moderate wind and limited sunlight, so they can "fenggan", or dry progressively. Then, they are molded into little or bigger cakes for sale. We introduce here the little cakes of just 8 grams each, good for two infusions. Each steeping can be repeated for several times, at least 8 in my experience. Each infusion lasts 2 to 4 seconds maximum.

Water Temperature: 100°C

Tea flavor: white peach and jasmine flowers, blended with a Pu'er taste, long and mellow and lingering on the tongue.

Serving: the Dai people serve it traditionally in earthenware pots and cups or even small glass cups. I respect their tradition, even though traditions should be interpreted according to personal tastes. A Dehua Blanc de Chine set would be great to appreciate its flavor in its wholeness. We at Hermitage Tea can provide one such set to you if you lack it.
