This tea is made in association with Loushuiyuan Tea Cooperative in Manyingtai Community, near Hefeng County, Hubei. We are active members of this cooperative and we contribute with our sales to the sustainable development of the community. Together with Alex Witherspoon, my friend from the University in Enshi, we rent a house and organize volunteer camps for organic agriculture learning and the study of conviviality and circular economy. The community, mostly elders in their 60- plus years, slowly cultivate tea amidst maize and other crops in commonly managed orchards. The transition to fully organic agriculture is currently happening and we strongly encourage it as a criteria for high quality production and membership.

This native species of Baobao, or "big bush" tea is harvested during Qing Ming festival and bears this sweet, roasted, rather pronounced chocolate taste in the blend. This is also the merit of Master Sun Changde, the cooperative's most skillful craftsman, and his long experience in the field. I like this tea very much when I need to get active or work at the desk for a long time, or when I am in good spirits with friends.

Water Temperature: 100°C

Taste nuances: nuts, raspberries, wild herbs, chocolate.

Utensils: best served in a Yixing tea pot or Blanc de Chine porcelain pot and cups, to retain all the flavors.
